Wernher's alliances with both General Dornberger and SS-General Kammler get him out of a jam, shifting his operations far from the front lines and the advancing Russian forces that threaten to overrun Peenemünde. He also gets a promotion to the Directorship of a new SS corporation and put in charge of the production and management of a range of weapons programs. These programs involve a large number of underground factories, some in the planning stage, others under construction, and a few, like the Mittelwerk, already operational.
